TALLINN - This year's winter tourism promotion campaign of the city of Tartu and Visit Tartu highlights the Christmas feeling that visitors can enjoy in Tartu and Tartu County, aiming to invite people from Estonia, Latvia and Finland to explore the region's diverse winter activities.
"It's very important to reach out to Estonian and Latvian visitors. While Tartu has seen a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors this year, the numbers of Latvians and Estonians staying in Tartu are a little lower," said Annika Ojasaar, head of tourism at the city government.
The campaign's messages focus on the Christmas feeling offered by the city and the county, along with indoor and outdoor activities available to families, groups of friends and their loved ones to spend their holidays in the Tartu region and stay for several days. Previous campaigns have shown that Tartu is also an attractive Christmas holiday destination for foreign markets, she added.
The campaign is carried out by means of advertising on social and traditional media in Estonia, Finland, and Latvia. In the Estonian and Finnish markets, Tartu is also collaborating with social media influencers. A key message for the Finnish target audience is the direct, 45-minute flight connection. The Finnish campaign kicked off last week, while activities targeting Estonia and Latvia were launched at the beginning of this week.
