Tallink Increased Passenger Numbers Over the Summer and Maintains Firm Market Leader Position

For Tallink Grupp, the summer of 2025 proved to be active, with passenger numbers on the rise. From June to August, the total number of ferry passengers across all routes approached two million, marking a significant increase of over 5% compared to the same period last year.

“Summer is traditionally our peak season, and we can be satisfied with the results over these three months. Passenger numbers either grew or remained at a consistently good level on all major routes. In addition, we offered a number of special cruises and achieved strong results thanks to smart route planning,” said Paavo Nõgene, Chairman of the Management Board of AS Tallink Grupp.

The most outstanding result this summer came from the Estonia–Finland route, where passenger numbers grew to nearly 1.3 million—over 15% more than last summer. While two ships operated between Tallinn and Helsinki last summer, this year there were three. On the Estonia–Sweden route, passenger numbers saw a significant 27% decline to around 187,000, but the key difference is that in summer 2024, two ships operated on the route, whereas this year only one did. On the Finland–Sweden route, passenger numbers remained stable, again exceeding half a million passengers.

The number of passenger vehicles transported during the summer months rose to 283,000—over 5,000 more than in the same period last year. Freight volumes, however, declined by nearly 11% compared to last summer, reflecting general economic uncertainty in core markets.

“Passenger trust has enabled us, as an Estonian company, to remain the market leader in the Baltic Sea region. We approach autumn with optimism, as dense route schedules, a diverse entertainment program, and new culinary experiences in our ship restaurants offer compelling reasons to return. At the same time, we must adapt our operations to market expectations to remain a reliable dividend stock for our shareholders,” Nõgene added.

The upcoming autumn season is brightened by the Italy-themed Beat Boat festival, which began on cruise ships in September. The entertainment calendar includes several cruises featuring performances by star artists, and the newly introduced Menu Nordic offers unique culinary experiences created by top chefs from various regions of Estonia.

Tallink Grupp will publish its unaudited interim report, including financial results for the third quarter and nine months of 2025, on 23 October.
