Tallink brings around one thousand Finnish cultural tourists to Saaremaa Opera Festival

As the Saaremaa Opera Festival gets underway, nearly 1,000 visitors from Finland will arrive in Saaremaa, Estonia, on board a special Tallink cruise. Organised by the renowned Finnish travel agency Ikaalisten Matkatoimisto (IMT), the cruise will bring one of the largest international visitor groups attending this year's festival. The guests will arrive on board the cruise vessel Victoria I on Wednesday, 22 July.

“Working closely with a travel partner, this special cruise is an excellent example of how a sea journey, culture and local experiences can come together to create a complete travel experience. Together with IMT, we are bringing nearly one thousand Finnish culture enthusiasts to Estonia at once and helping to increase international interest in Saaremaa as an attractive travel destination. Meaningful and experience-rich journeys such as this give visitors a reason to explore the destination more deeply and create value for the entire tourism sector,” said Marko Männimets, Sales Director of Tallink Silja Line Finland.

The three-day special cruise to Saaremaa Opera Days combines a sea voyage, a cultural programme and an introduction to the island’s attractions into one comprehensive experience. Guests will have the opportunity to discover Saaremaa’s sights and enjoy local culinary experiences. The highlight of the trip is Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, performed as part of the Festival programme.

During the cruise, a special themed programme will also take place on board the vessel. Among other activities, soloists Kadri Raalik and Raiko Raalik, together with pianist Riina Pikani, will introduce highlights from the upcoming season programme of the Estonian National Opera.

The Saaremaa Opera Days special cruise on board Victoria I departs from Helsinki on the evening of 21 July, and culture enthusiasts are welcome to join the cruise in Helsinki.
