Support by EU member states for Ukraine is constantly increasing - Murniece

KYIV - In the conditions of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, support by European Union (EU) member states for Ukraine is constantly increasing, Saeima Speaker Inara Murniece said in an interview to the  Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

"As the leader of the parliament, I regularly participate in the meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the European Union countries. And I had the opportunity to observe how the attitude and position of the leaders of the EU countries and their parliaments change. This support is constantly increasing. Currently, the majority is on the side of those who support Ukraine. And even those countries that initially spoke out and acted with restraint are already sending Ukraine weapons," said Murniece.

She emphasized that this has happened thanks to Ukraine and Ukrainians. "This is support for your courage, your love for your Motherland and the fact that you are currently standing guard for our common European values," said Murniece.

She also emphasized as important the fact that European society currently supports the politics of values. "This creates motivation for governments to also support the policy of values. Otherwise, there may be a risk that governments will feel the temptation to slip back to real politics," noted the speaker of the Latvian Seaima.
