TALLINN – The supervisory board of the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund decided on Friday unanimously to extend the contracts of management board members for the next five years.

"The Unemployment Insurance Fund has helped to successfully prepare and launch major social changes, be it the workability reform or the new training program for employed individuals we'll open on May 1 already. All the undertaken steps modernize the Estonian labor market and at the same time transform the role of the Unemployment Insurance Fund," the chairman of the supervisory board, Minister of Health and Labor Jevgeni Ossinovski said, adding that he expected the fund to show strong leadership in completing those reforms.

CEO Meelis Paavel said individuals with the reduced capacity for work and young people who need support both to find employment and stay employed will remain under the fund's special attention.

The management board of the Unemployment Insurance Fund includes Paavel as chairman and members Erik Aas, Reelika Leetmaa and Pille Liimal.
