Subcommittees for strategic communication and comprehensive national defense set up in Saeima

RIGA - The Saeima Defense, Interior and Corruption Prevention Committee today decided to establish a Strategic Communications Subcommittee and a Comprehensive National Defense Committee, LETA was told at the Saeima press office.

In accordance with the Saeima Rules of Procedure, each parliamentary committee can elect up to two subcommittees to deal with particular matters. Lawmakers who are not members of the respective Saeima committee can also be included in the subcommittee if they agree to that.

Members of the Interior and Corruption Prevention Committee also decided on delegating its representatives to the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group (JPSG) on Europol. Ivans Klementjevs (Harmony) and Ainars Latkovskis (New Unity) were appointed permanent members and Raimonds Bergmanis (Greens/Farmers) and Aldis Blumbergs (KPV LV) were appointed substitute members.
