State Revenue Service launches criminal procedure on unreported wages in construction company

RIGA - The Taxes and Customs Police of the State Revenue Service has launched a criminal procedure on payment of unreported wages in a construction company, LETA learned from VID.

VID said that the police conducted 10 searches in Riga and Jelgava in the company's offices, construction sites and places of residence.

Cash worth more than EUR 15,000 and other items were confiscated that will be analyzed during the pretrial investigation.

During the pretrial investigation, it has been established that the company since 2019 until the present moment has paid unreported wages to about 30 employees.

There are three suspects in the case. 

VID will not disclose further information for the time being so as not to impede the investigation.

Fight against unreported wages is one this year's priorities for VID.
