TALLINN – For a fee, the state is offering farmers lands in the state land reserve for short-term use for mowing or grazing purposes, which could be helpful in mitigating the consequences of the drought that struck Estonia early this summer.

The lands offered for mowing or grazing have not yet been put to use due to their location or land cover and land use type. The offer is primarily intended for local farmers whose land is bordered by state land or whose land is located near state land and who can familiarize themselves with the conditions on site in advance, the Land Board said.

Farmers are asked to contact the Land Board if there are state lands near them that may be suitable for mowing or grazing.
