Starlink internet opens up lots of opportunities – Lithuanian minister

VILNIUS – As Starlink Lithuania, a unit of the US aerospace technology company SpaceX, launched satellite internet services in Lithuania, the country's Transport and Communications Minister Marius Skuodis says it provided consumer with a possibility to choose.

"The satellite broadband Starlink provides has special value for regions were ground infrastructure is insufficient and mobile internet or fiber optic internet is inaccessible," the minister was quoted as saying in the ministry's press release.

It also noted that Space X vowed to launch the service early next year.

The company has informed that internet speeds of 100-150 Mbps can be expected but speeds and the quality of services should imporve soon, Skuodis said.

SpaceX registered Starlink Lithuania in early June. Starlink is SpaceX's satellite constellation development project.
