VILNIUS – The Lithuanian Central State Archives will on Wednesday host the opening of an exhibition of documents on the recognition of an independent state of Lithuania after WWI, found in the archives of Spain.

The event will be attended by Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius, and the document will be handed to the archives' director Dalius Zizys by Spanish Ambassador to Lithuania Jose Maria Robles Fraga.

"The exhibition's basis is made of diplomatic correspondence between Lithuanian and Spanish state officials that took place 100 years ago, and not only history fans but also professionals will likely be interested in these documents," the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.

Spain presented high-definition digital copies of these documents as a gift to Lithuania, and the decision was made to hold the exhibition of these documents in Vilnius and Madrid.
