Sigulda's golden autumn that lasts longer than a few days

Golden autumn in Sigulda is the moment people wait for every year.

As soon as the Gauja valley in Sigulda begins to turn yellow, orange and red, people head to Sigulda to see autumn at its most beautiful.

That is exactly the feeling captured in the Siguldas Fall Globe.

Inside the globe there are colourful autumn leaves. When the globe is moved, they rise in a gentle swirl of wind and begin circling around the Sigulda landscape, just like on a warm autumn day when the wind playfully chases leaves through the air. At the same moment the scene comes alive with the Sigulda cable car, which actually moves, and together with the swirling golden leaves falling over other well-known Sigulda landmarks – the Gauja bridge, Turaida castle and Gūtmaņa cave – it brings motion and life to the scene. This is the moment the product comes alive and gives the feeling that a small piece of Sigulda's golden autumn has been preserved in a glass globe. It is the beautiful autumn leaves and the finely crafted Sigulda details, modelled on the real sights, that make this souvenir unique.

The design works both inside and outside the globe, continuing one story about Sigulda. The outside uses elements of Spieķu park, includes the name Sigulda, and shows the observation wheel, the castle ruins and a larger Gūtmaņa cave. The Gūtmaņa cave is a specially crafted depiction that also hides a small detail that is not always noticed at first – a little secret. This hidden secret is the oldest inscription in Gūtmaņa cave, included as a deliberate part of the product. Edgars Arājs has specially researched the cave's oldest inscriptions, and we included the oldest one in the design as a symbolic link to Sigulda's history.

This makes you want not just to look at the globe from a distance, but to pick it up and explore it more closely. One detail leads to the next, until it becomes clear that the product was not made simply to be a pretty object.

In Latvia, golden autumn is very short. Sometimes the most beautiful colours last only a few weeks. One day of strong wind or rain can completely change the landscape.

That is why people hurry. They travel to Sigulda exactly when the leaves are at their brightest. And perhaps it is precisely because it is so fleeting that autumn in Sigulda is so special. It is not there all year round. In the Siguldas Fall Globe, that limit disappears.
