The Lithuanian parliament has started debates on a rescue plan for the Vilnius-based European Humanities University (EHU), which may otherwise face closure after getting a repeated negative evaluation from experts. Most of EHU's students are from Belarus.
Draft amendments allowing setting special evaluation and accreditation criteria for universities operating under forced emigration conditions were passed in mid-April after the first reading in the Seimas with 106 votes in favor, no votes against and no abstentions.
