SECOND ANNUAL EVENING GALA DINNER

RAISING SUPPORT FOR INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM IN THE BALTIC COUNTRIES!
TOPIC:  THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Dear Guest,

On behalf of The Baltic Times, I would like to cordially invite you to join us for an evening gala dinner at 7:00 pm on 5 November 2015 at the Grand Palace Hotel in Riga, Latvia, to raise a robust democratic society, and I ask that you support us by attending or sponsoring this special event. The Baltic Times (TBT) has been committed to this cause since the paper was founded in 1992. In recent years we have sponsored an essay contest among young journalists to promote the importance of independent journalism, as an important building block of any democratic society.
During the program, which will take place over a gourmet sit down dinner, we will reflect on the complexities of covering the world after 9/11, placing a special emphasis on the growing power of the Internet and social media in modern journalism. We will honour several journalists who have made a tangible impact on the development of independent Baltic media. A special musical treat will also await the guests.

Confirmed speakers will include Dr. Valdis Birkavs, a former Latvian Prime Minister and a member of Club de Madrid,  Ms. Elisabeth Braw, an award-winning journalist at The Economist and World Affairs Journal, Mr. Slava Rabinovich, a Russian-American hedge fund manager and an overnight internet sensation, with over 100,000 followers reading his analysis of the future of Russian economy and politics.

The proceeds will go to help young journalists – the winners of TBT essay competitions – as new aspiring beacons of truth and transparency in our society. The gala will bring together many of the leaders who will shape the future of the Baltic region, including senior government officials, diplomatic dignitaries and top business leaders.  Last year over 27 ambassadors, senior diplomats, state officials, and business leaders attended.

Individual tickets for the gala are EUR 95 each (or EUR 180 for two), and Corporate Sponsor packages are available for EUR 2000 as Gold Sponsor (includes table for 10, company logo in the program book, and 10 lifetime subscriptions to The Baltic Times) and for EUR 1000 as Silver Sponsor (seating for 6, company logo in the program book, and 2 lifetime subscriptions to The Baltic Times). For those of you who would like to contribute to this important cause but are unable to attend, we are happy to extend “Honorary Baltic Times Journalist” titles to those who contribute EUR 1000 or more. To reserve tickets or a Corporate Sponsor package please contact Anna Tutina at [email protected], by 22 October 2015. Please join us in support of this important cause and help us invest in a bright future for the Baltic countries. I look forward to seeing you in November!

Sincerely,
Gene Zolotarev
