RIGA - A Saeima committee on Wednesday failed to approve draft amendments to the law on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that would prohibit growing genetically modified organisms in Latvia.
Four members of the Saeima committee voted to send the draft amendments to Saeima, one MP voted against, and five abstained, meaning that the draft legislation was not supported at the meeting.
