Russia is still openly ignoring international rights - Kols

RIGA - Russia is still openly ignoring international rights and breaching human rights, said Latvian parliament foreign committee chairman Rihards Kols (National Alliance) during his remote meeting with Russian opposition representative Leonid Volkov.

According to the Saeima press service, Kols and Volkov had a remote meeting to discuss human rights situation in Russia and Latvia's support to Russia's civic society.

Kols said that Latvia's position is very clear - Latvia supports Russia's civic society and democratic opposition. 

Volkov thanked Latvia for support and the strong position regarding EU sanctions. He underscored that uninterrupted support from international society and pressure to achieve release of opposition politician Alexei Navalny and other political prisoners are necessary.
