The ruling coalition parties are open to a discussion about tenure restrictions proposed by Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis. The Latvian president in his letter to the parliament urged lawmakers to revise all effective regulations currently not containing tenure restrictions for state officials. Vejonis suggested that the restriction preventing officials from staying in one office for more than two successive terms should apply to a broader circle of officials.
