TALLINN – The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications announces that although the Estonian and Uzbekistani ministries already agreed on the exchange of transport permits last year, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan has not issued the necessary permits to Estonian carriers and therefore the transport permits issued by Estonia to the carriers of Uzbekistan have also been cancelled.
International road transport with third countries is carried out on the basis of mutually exchanged transport permits issued on the basis of international agreements. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications has issued 250 Estonian transport permits for international road freight transport to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan for 2023, but despite repeated requests and reminders, the Uzbek side has yet to send transport permits to Estonian carriers.
Therefore, the validity of 250 Estonian transport permits sent to Uzbekistan has been revoked, and from June 12, no cargo truck of an Uzbekistani transport company has the right to enter Estonia or pass through Estonia in transit.
This means that just as no cargo trucks belonging to Estonian carriers have reached Uzbekistan so far, no cargo truck of an Uzbekistani haulage company can now move on the territory of Estonia, and Estonian companies should order transport services from a trucking company holding transport licenses of another country for cargo transport between the two countries.
Road transport between the two countries will be restored when Uzbekistan has issued transport permits for Estonian carriers.
