RIGA - President Edgars Rinkevics and a Latvian business delegation will be on a working visit to South Korea November 26 through 30, the president's advisor Martins Dregeris informed LETA.

During the visit, Rinkevics will meet with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and other top officials, open a Latvian-Korean business forum, attend a ceremony commemorating Latvian soldiers killed in the Korean War - Aivars Karlis Salenieks, Bruno Glazers, Rudolfs Liepa and Janis Krumins - and visit the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

During Rinkevics' meeting with Yoon, the two presidents will discuss bilateral relations, security cooperation, regional security and nuclear issues, particularly in the context of North Korea's involvement in Russia's war in Ukraine.

According to Dregeris, one of the key objectives of Rinkevics' visit to South Korea is to promote economic cooperation by strengthening cooperation in such areas as pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, wood processing and tourism, as well as developing new areas of cooperation, including in biomedicine.
