RIGA - Latvia supports the people of Belarus, as well as calls for an immediate release political prisoners and a new, free and fair presidential election in the presence of international observers, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity) said in a telephone call with Bearus' opposition presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
Rinkevics noted on Twitter that Tikhanovskaya asked him to thank the Latvian people for support.
