Rimsevics to give end-of-term press conference on Monday

RIGA - The Bank of Latvia Governor Ilmars Rimsevics will give his end-of-term press conference on Monday, December 16, the Bank of Latvia told LETA.

At the press conference, Rimsevics will also comment on monetary policy decisions taken by the European Central Bank, economic developments in the euro area and Latvia, recent economic forecasts of the Bank of Latvia, and lending trends.

The press conference will be held at 12 noon at the Bank of Latvia, 2a Valdemara Street.

As reported, Rimsevics' term of office will end on December 21.

LETA also reported, Rimsevics has been charged with two counts of graft, as well as money laundering. In the same criminal case, businessman Maris Martinsons has been charged with aiding and abetting bribery and aiding and abetting graft, as well as money laundering.

On Thursday, December 12, Saeima appointed Martins Kazaks governor of the Bank of Latvia for a term of five years.
