RIGA - On December 6 a cargo of 115 power generators and 100 heaters will start its way from Riga to Kyiv, said Riga City Council spokesman Ugis Vidauskis.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Latvia Olexandr Mischenko, Riga Mayor Martins Stakis, Ziedot.lv charity fund director Ruta Dimanta participated in a ceremony to see off transportation of the cargo.
Due to Russia's air attacks on Ukraine, the Ukrainian residents will have a cold and dark winter. The critical infrastructure - hospitals, schools, etc. are in need of power and heating.
Vidauskis said that the Riga City Council responded to Kyiv's requests and donated EUR 200,000 for purchase of 115 power generators and 100 heaters.
The purchase was organized by Ziedot.lv. The delivery of the equipment was provided by four companies - Tech Express, Vallin, Arsenall Industrial and Stokker.
