RIGA - On June 1 the Riga Film Fund will announce a competition for its co-financing to foreign film projects, LETA was told at Riga City Hall.
The local government's EUR 800,000 co-financing to foreign film projects is intended to promote the shooting of foreign films in Riga and Latvia in order to support the relaunch of the Latvian film industry and stimulate attraction of foreign financing to the Latvian film industry and promotion of Riga.
The co-financing is meant for covering expenses related to Latvia's infrastructure, rent of transport vehicles, premises and equipment, accommodation and utility services, construction and security, as well as artistic and administrative work. With this support, the Riga Film Fund hopes to lure foreign film production crews to Latvia and promote all kinds of business activity in Riga and Latvia.
Uldis Rakstins, head of the local government's budget administration and acting director of the city's finance department, chairs the panel judging the film projects submitted in the competition.
