KYIV - One journalist from the international news agency Reuters was killed and another four, including a Latvian national, were injured in a Russian missile strike on a hotel in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, informed.
The deceased Reuters journalist is a citizen of Great Britain, rescuers found his body under the rubble of the building. The injured Reuters journalists are from Latvia, Ukraine, US and Germany. In total, six people were injured in the missile strike, including four journalists.
According to information available to TV3 News, the injured Latvian national is independent journalist Viktors Sajenko. TV3 journalists Ieva Varna and Sergey Medvedev, who continue to work in Donbas, have established that the injuries sustained in the attack do not pose a threat to Sajenko's life.
TV3 reports that Sajenko has already informed his relatives of what happened.
Filashkin's statement did not mention the name of the hotel, but judging from the photos, it is the Hotel Sapphire.
The missile strike, which was launched on Saturday, also damaged nearby buildings.
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case for violation of the rules of war.
Kramatorsk is the temporary administrative center of the Donetsk region since the city of Donetsk is occupied by Russia.
