RIGA - Resident should make every effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19, former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga said at an event dedicated to women in leadership called Forums Lidere 2021 today.

"We are in a pandemic, the virus affects everyone, but some are irresponsibly not afraid to play Russian roulette," said Vike-Freiberga.

She pointed out that various viruses can be avoided preventively and medically. At the same time, Covid-19 can be treated with artificial respiration, which no one wants to experience, so every effort should be made to avoid the virus.

Vike-Freiberga also highlighted the problems of climate change, which the world is facing more frequently than ever before.

"The earth is protesting against noticeable climate change. Wherever we look, nature speaks to us, trying to get our attention as humans, saying this is too much. (..) People need to learn to think about the planet more seriously than they have done so far," said Vike-Freiberga.
