RIGA - During political consultations that took place on November 2 and 3 in Wellington, New Zealand, representatives of the Foreign Ministries of Latvia and New Zealand discussed support to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression, LETA was told at the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
Katarina Platere, Head of the Directorate for Bilateral Relations, and Glenys Karran, Head of the European Department at New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, discussed bilateral cooperation, including within multilateral formats, as well as current developments in the Indo-Pacific region. Platere shared Latvia's experience in countering disinformation, as well as highlighted Latvia’s expertise in the field of strategic communication.
The visit also included meetings with the Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to New Zealand, Kevin O'Connell, officials from the Ministry of Defense of New Zealand, teaching staff at Victoria University, and the Latvian Honorary Consul in Wellington, John Milford.
