Pushkin's monument removed from Riga park

RIGA - The monument to the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin has been removed from Kronvalda Park in Riga.

The monument will be handed to the Latvian Artists' Association, LETA learned from the Riga City Council.

The Riga Monument Agency on May 30 moved the monument to a storehouse and later it will be handed to the museum of the Latvian Artists' Association which will further store and display the sculpture.

As reported, in 2009 the monument was placed in Kronvalda Park in Riga without permission from the respective authorities.
