RIGA - On the November 18 Independence Day, public transport in Riga will be free of charge, representatives of Riga City Council informed LETA.
On November 18, all passengers will be able to use Riga public transport free of charge, including buses, trolleybuses and trams, without having to register their trips.
Furthermore, municipal parking lots will be free of charge on Saturday and Monday, November 18 and 20. On Sunday, parking lots will operate as usual on Sundays.
At the same time, Riga City Council informs that there will be temporary changes in public transport timetables when public events take place in the center of the city, including during a student procession from the University of Latvia to the Brethren Cemetery at 7:30 a.m., military parade on the Daugava Embankment at 1:30 p.m., and a torchlight procession in the downtown at 6 p.m.
