President Levits to meet with three ministers next week

RIGA – Next week President Egils Levits plans to meet with Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister Juris Puce (For Development/For), Health Minister Ilze Vinkele (For Development/For) and Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development/For), the president’s spokeswoman Aiva Rozenberga informed LETA.

The meetings with Puce and Vinkele are scheduled to take place on Monday, August 5, and Pabriks is due to visit the president in Riga Castle on Thursday, August 8.

The president continues his first series of meeting with Cabinet ministers for in-depth discussions on all current issues, including the regional reform, climate-related issues, digital development, health care and defense, Rozenberga said, noting that these are introductory visits focusing on institutional cooperation, each sector’s priorities and key events.

As part of this series of meetings, President Levits has already met with Interior Minister Sandis Girgens (KPV LV), Education and Science Minister Ilga Suplinska (New Conservative Party), Justice Minister Janis Bordans (New Conservative Party), Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity) and Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance).

Levits was elected Latvian president on May 29 and he assumed the presidential office on July 8.
