RIGA - On Monday, President Edgars Rinkevics met with Climate and Energy Minister Janis Vitenbergs (National Alliance) to discuss preparations for the upcoming heating season and the security of critical energy infrastructure, the president's spokesman Martins Dregeris told LETA.
During the meeting, the officials discussed proposals to stabilize the situation in preparation for the upcoming heating season.
Rinkevics and Vitenbergs also discussed progress on the areas of focus identified in March in a discussion at Riga Castle on the long-term strategy for the Latvian energy sector.
The conversation also focused on closer cooperation among government agencies and improving the work of the State Environmental Service to reduce the administrative burden on businesses, including those in the defense sector.
