TALLINN - During a meeting with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, President Alar Karis praised Montenegro's efforts in its European Union accession negotiations and noted that Estonia is a staunch supporter of the EU's enlargement.

"Estonia's historical experience allows us to be one of the most staunch advocates for European Union enlargement. The Lennart Meri Conference, taking place in Tallinn this week, provides an opportunity to collectively make this voice of support even stronger," President Karis noted.

In addition to European Union enlargement, the presidents also discussed the international security situation, digital cooperation, connectivity, and the promotion of tourism.

On Friday, the Estonian head of state is scheduled to meet with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Kadriorg, followed by a meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Saturday.

On Friday, President Karis will attend the opening of the Lennart Meri Conference and, as its patron, will host a formal dinner for the guests at the National Library of Estonia.

On Saturday, President Alar Karis will open a discussion at the Lennart Meri Conference titled "Building Forward: Small but Resilient," which focuses on the resilience of small states. The panel will feature Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi, and Hiski Haukkala, Director of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. The conversation will be moderated by Sylvie Kauffmann, a journalist from Le Monde.
