Police ban ice fishing as temperatures shoot up

TALLINN - Police have barred ice fishers from venturing out onto the sea ice off the coast of the Parnu, Saare, and Laane counties, or all of West Estonia, starting Tuesday. The ban does not apply to professional fishers possessing a professional fishing permit, who must stay within a distance of 1.5 kilometres of the coast. Also exempted from the ban are category A motor vehicles, or mopeds, four-wheeled mopeds, motorcycles, and motor tricycles used by professional fishers to bring their fishing equipment to the shore.
