VILNIUS – Iceland's low-cost carrier Play Airlines is set to increase its flight frequency between Vilnius and Reykjavik to twice a week starting in mid-May next year, Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports, LTOU) said on Friday.
The airline will operate flights to Iceland's capital on Thursdays and Sundays, from the current once-weekly service on Saturdays.
"We are seeing very strong demand and interest in our flights,” Play Airlines CEO Einar Orn Olafsson was quoted as saying in the press release.
"This growth will not only provide more convenience and travel options for our passengers, but will also further strengthen the connection between Vilnius and Iceland," he added.
Play Airlines launched direct flights between Vilnius and Reykjavik last May.
The airline has an office in Vilnius, which handles some of its administrative functions.
