Permanent fence of 22 kilometers built on Latvia's border with Belarus

RIGA - At present, 22.5 kilometers of permanent fence have been built on the Latvian-Belarusian border.

The Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday heard the informative report and ordered the State Chancery to prepare the report for submission to the parliament.

The temporary barbed wire fence has been built across full border between Latvia and Belarus.

By November 1, 2022, four bridges have been completed and commissioned.

Agreements on construction of permanent infrastructure in two stages have been signed for EUR 100.5 million for a stretch of 149.7 kilometers.

The Cabinet of Ministers has supported introduction of innovative technological solutions in control over Latvia's external border, using optical sensors, video surveillance cameras, high-capacity data transmission networks and software systems.
