RIGA - Patients should receive quality health care at both public and private institutions, President Edgars Rinkevics said while meeting with representatives of the Latvian Healthcare Employers' Association at Riga Castle on Tuesday.
According to the president's adviser Martins Dregeris, the meeting was held at the association's initiative with the aim to present the association's vision, including the role of private medical institutions in the health care system and the association's perspective on ways to increase the efficiency of the health system.
Rinkevics expressed his gratitude to the private medical institutions for their involvement and cooperation with the public sector in mitigating the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The president noted that as far as patients are concerned, it does not matter whether the employer of the specialist a patient meets is a public or a private company, but in all cases it is essential to receive quality healthcare and respectful treatment.
