Latvian Television reports that government coalition parties are looking into ministers and current parliament members in their search for Riga mayoral candidates for next year's local government elections.
LTV says that a candidate from the Union of Greens and Farmers is long-time Riga City Council official Askolds Klavins, who recently became an MP.
Meanwhile, the National Alliance is seeking mayoral candidates amongst MPs or ministers, with MPs Rihards Kols and Romans Naudins being specified as likely choices.
