RIGA - Since the start of the pre-election campaign period, political organizations have reported campaign expenditures totaling EUR 2.780 million with the United List (AS) spending the most, followed by the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) and Latvia First (LPV), the Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB) informed LETA.
Since June 6, when the pre-election campaign period officially began in Latvia, through October 1, political organizations have collectively entered into agreements for limited pre-election campaign spending totaling EUR 2,779,923. The exact amount will be known next week, but after the election, parties will be required to submit declarations of election income and expenditures to KNAB, which will verify that actual expenditures correspond to the information provided in the declarations.
For each political organization, the maximum allowable limit for pre-election campaign expenses is EUR 1.039 million. These pre-election campaign expenses include both the political organization’s total expenditures and the individual expenditures of candidates for parliament. The limit does not apply to expenses such as the production of advertisements, pre-election campaign planning, advertising design, consulting services, and other positions.
AS has signed contracts totaling EUR 590,565 for its campaign, ZZS - EUR 451,479, and LPV - EUR 386,423. New Unity has signed contracts totaling EUR 372,751, National Alliance - EUR 236,516, For Latvia's Development - EUR 223,367, the Progressives - EUR 166,768, and Sovereign Power/New Latvian union - EUR 137,680. Meanwhile, the Gobzems List has entered into contracts totaling EUR 97,941.
Contracts with the other political parties were concluded for smaller amounts.
