TALLINN - The Estonian parliament on Wednesday passed with 73 votes in favor a government-initiated bill on the ratification of the protocol on amending and extending the agreement on science and technology cooperation between the governments of Estonia and the United States.

The bill ratifies a protocol extending the agreement between the Estonian and US governments by ten years and updates it by adding new cooperation opportunities.

The purpose of amending and extending the agreement is to foster international cooperation between Estonian, US and Baltic researchers and research and development establishments. The compact regulates the forms and principles of research and development cooperation, including intellectual property rights and information security obligations.
