The Latvian parliament on February 22 sent to the committees for review the draft amendments to the Law on the Bank of Latvia to prevent the head of the Latvian central bank from staying in office for more than two successive terms and to introduce an option for suspending the powers of the Bank of Latvia top officials in case any of them has become a suspect or a defendant in a criminal proceeding.
