Pabriks to attend meeting of Northern Group's defense ministers in Germany

RIGA - Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development/For) will today attend a meeting with the Northern Group’s defense ministers in Berlin to discuss regional security and defense cooperation, LETA was told at the Latvian Defense Ministry.

The meeting of Nordic and Baltic defense ministers is expected to focus on multinational military exercises, cooperation in strategic communication, the Greenland-Iceland-UK (GIUK) gap and military mobility, as well as China’s role in the Northern Group’s region.

The Northern Group is an informal cooperation format bringing together the Nordic and Baltic states, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and the UK. The group aims to develop joint defense projects.
