Over 1,000 attended anti-vax protest in Vilnius

VILNIUS – Some 1,500 people attended a protest against COVID-19 vaccination in central Vilnius on Saturday.

The protest was organized by several public organizations and figures.

Protesters marched holding Lithuanian flags and chanted "Hands off of our children", "Lithuania, rise" and also held a banner saying "President, bring back the operation of the Constitution in Lithuania".

Protesters lit candles outside the parliament and government buildings.

Police representatives told BNS protests participants gathered in central Cathedral Square at around 1.30 p.m., and then marched to the government, parliament and presidential office buildings.

Participants of this rally later issued a statement addresses to President Gitanas Nauseda and it was handed over to its adviser. In the statement, the president is asked to turn to the Constitutional Court over the government's recent resolution on banning people without national COVID-19 certificates from visiting many trading, services and entertainment venues.
