TALLINN – The City of Tallinn, represented by elder of the Mustamae city district Lauri Laats, on Saturday handed the title of winter capital of Estonia to the southern town of Otepaa.

This is the 22nd time for the traditional winter sports center of Estonia to accept the title from the national capital.

"This certificate affirms that the City of Tallinn agrees to award the title of winter capital to Otepaa," it stands in the certificate signed by Mayor of Tallinn Taavi Aas. The certificate goes on to say that it is valid from the winter solstice at 12:23 a.m. on Dec. 22 until the spring solstice at 9:58 p.m. on March 20.

The certificate and the scepter going with it were accepted by Otepaa municipality elder Kaido Tamberg.
