Opening of an international ceramic art symposium

At 4 p.m. on Friday 26 July in Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre, the 7th international ceramic art symposium “Ceramic Laboratory” will conclude with the opening of an exhibition by symposium participants. Prior to that, the programme of the symposium will offer public lectures and workshops.

12 through 26 July, Latvian Centre of Contemporary Ceramics in cooperation with Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre organises the 7th international ceramic art symposium.

This year, it has brought together 14 artists from different parts of the world: Suzanne AU (China), Elīna Titāne (Latvia), Inese Brants (Latvia), Bogusław Dobrowolski (Poland), Aleksandra Dobrowolska (Poland), Silvia Granata (Italy), Beka Tabagua (Georgia), Yulia
Repina (Russia), Katerina Geiduka (Belarus), Kaspars Geiduks (Latvia), Una Gura (Latvia), Sandra Poplavska-Rimicāne (Latvia), Ilona Abdulajeva (Latvia), Nellija Dzalba (Latvia).

In the course of the symposium, public lectures and workshops with free admission will be given on 23 and 24 July in Latvian Centre of Contemporary Ceramics at 8 Hospitāļa Street.

Programme:
Tuesday 23 July
12:00 p.m. – Lecture “Porcelain painting techniques” – Inese Brants (Latvia);
4:00 p.m. – Porcelain painting workshop – Inese Brants (Latvia).

Wednesday 24 July
12:00 p.m. – Porcelain jewellery making workshop – Silvija Granata (Italy);
4:00 p.m. – Firing in raku kilns.

Participants of the symposium will receive their certificates for participation in a public ceremony during the opening of the exhibition of artwork created in the course of the symposium. The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. on 26 July at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre.
