RIGA - The healthcare financing law endorsed by the 12th Saeima, which stipulates two different levels of state-covered healthcare services, is a complete flop, Ombudsman Juris Jansons told LNT television today.

Although the law is supposed to describe the system of financing for healthcare, it actually does not say anything about healthcare financing and instead describes two different baskets of healthcare services, which is absolutely wrong and does not solve the problem of access to healthcare, said Jansons.

The law is especially unfair to microenterprise tax payers, added Jansons.

As reported, the healthcare financing law stipulates introduction of state health insurance and making part of healthcare services available to only those residents who make social contributions.
