Number of Passengers at Riga Airport Surpasses 2 million This Year

RIX Riga Airport handled more than 2 million passengers in the first four months of this year, which is 8 % more than a year before, when 1.87 million travellers were served during the same period. 

Of all passengers, 81 % were direct passengers, while 19 % used Riga as a transfer airport for their onward travel. The number of direct passengers at Riga Airport in January-April exceeded the 2019 figure by 8 %.

In April, the number of passengers at Riga Airport exceeded 581 thousand (+6 %); 5239 flights (+1 %) and 1450 tonnes of air cargo (+4 %) were handled. 

Since the beginning of the year, the volume of air cargo transported through Riga Airport has reached 6.1 thousand tonnes, which is an increase of 13 % as compared to the previous year. The number of passengers, air cargo and other flights handled in January-April also increased by 7 %, reaching 19 thousand flights.
