Number of newborns in Baltic States grows in 2015

The number of births increased in all three Baltic countries last year, BNS learned from the national statistics office.  Compared to 2014, in 2015 Lithuania recorded the biggest rise in the number of births, at 1,106 or 3.6 per cent. Estonia registered an increase of 356 babies or 2.6 per cent, and Latvia registered a rise of 233 newborns or 1.1 per cent. Last year, the total fertility rate (the average number of children that would be born to a woman during her lifetime provided that the birth rate of the given year remains at the previous level)...
