Number of Covid-19 patients in Latvia's hospitals continues to drop

RIGA - Over the past 24 hours, the number of Covid-19 patients in Latvia's hospitals dropped from 322 to 313 people people, the National Health Service informed.

In the past day, 54 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals and 61 were discharged.

Of the 120 Covid-19 patients hospitalized with Covid-19 as their main diagnosis, 116 have moderate symptoms and four are severe cases.

As reported, Latvia confirmed another 641 new Covid-19 cases over the past weekend and three Covid-19 related deaths, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

Of the 4,176 Covid-19 tests taken in the past 24 hours, 15.3 percent returned positive.

Latvia's cumulative two-week number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population decreased from 504.6 to 486.3, according to CDC data. Latvia's cumulative seven-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population dropped from 229.7 to 215.4.

Of the latest Covid-19 fatalities, one was aged between 60 and 69 years and two between 80 and 89 years.

Covid-19 has so far killed 6,044 people in Latvia.

Latvia has recorded 949,252 laboratory confirmed Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

According to LETA's estimates, 4,078 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past seven days.
