TALLINN – Estonian state-owned airline Nordic Aviation Group AS, or Nordica, will start charter flights to Egypt and the Canary Islands from Oct. 18 in collaboration with tour operator Tez Tours.

Holiday trips will be offered during the winter season to Hurghada with departures from Tallinn on Tuesdays and Fridays, to Sharm El Sheikh on Thursdays and Sundays, and to Tenerife on Saturdays, Nordic Aviation Group said in a press release.

The flights will be operated with a 180-seat Airbus 320 aircraft, the cabin of which has undergone a complete overhaul.

Toomas Uibo, head of marketing and communications at Nordic Aviation Group, described the start of the charter operations as the launch of the company's new business line announced in the spring.

"As an airline, we are constantly evolving, and offering charter flights with an Airbus 320 is a natural extension of our existing business. We are delighted that our first Airbus has found application namely in Estonia. We believe that, as a domestic company, in cooperation with Tez Tour, we will be able to offer residents of Estonia a very good service and convenient flight times for holiday travel in the coming winter," said Uibo.

The Airbus 320 of Nordic Aviation Group will operate under the Nordica brand, and the formation of flight crews has been going on for some time. The aircraft, which will be based in Tallinn this coming winter, will offer local pilots and flight attendants the opportunity to work from their home base. However, the aircraft will be doing work all over Europe.

The Estonian airline sees a continued increase in interest in the services of A320 aircraft in the market, and consequently plans to increase its Airbus fleet in the coming years in accordance with demand.
