Baltic logistics center opens near Tallinn

TALLINN (ETA) - Estonia's leading logistics firm Schenker-BTL opened the most modern Baltic logistics center near Tallinn Airport at Mäigu on April 14.

The center cost 36 million kroons ($2.25 million) to build, it has 4,000 square metres of warehouse and 1,000 square metres of office space, said Meelis Arumeel, managing director of Schenker-BTL.

The new logistics center is the largest specifically designed building in Estonia and the Baltics which gathers all the representations of Schenker in Tallinn.

Schenker-BTL invested in the logistics complex in order to rationalise the fast-growing freight volume handling.

Its construction marks the completion of the Schenker-BTL logistics network in the Baltics. Schenker-BTL has the largest market stake of 12 percent in Estonia in transport and logistics. In road transport Schenker-BTL network connects all the larger economic regions. The company has 1,000 representations in 30 European countries and gives work to 28,000 people.

The net turnover of the concern was 5.2 billion euros last year.
