Truce declared between coalition factions

RIGA - Latvia First Party leader Eriks Jekabsons and Einars Repse, prime minister and head of the New Era party agreed to a cease in hostilities on Oct. 20 in order to breath new life in the ruling coalition.After the meeting Jekabsons said his party would give Repse, whom Latvia First Party had accused of heavy-handedness, one more chance. The truce signaled a temporary cooling of tensions in the turbulent four-party coalition and the chance to have the 2004 budget passed in Parliament.
