VILNIUS - Lithuania's fixed-line telephone operator Lietuvos Telekomas has announced a
cut of up to 70 percent in fixed-line call rates.
The company said it is also slashing the rates of its Internet service
Atviras Takas by 77 percent at off-peak times.
The changes will take effect on Sept. 1.
In addition, Lietuvos Telekomas will reduce its share of the price of calls
to mobile phones, resulting in a 41-percent decrease in off-peak rates for
end-users.
Off-peak local calls will go down in price by 63 percent to 0.03 lat per
minute, while national calls will become 70 percent cheaper, at 0.09 lat per
minute.
A press release by the company says that Lietuvos Telekomas will simplify
the system of differentiating call rates to satisfy the customers' needs.
